Raised Vegetable Garden

It's been a joy and truly a labor of love piecing our raised bed garden together. We learnt a lot from our last/first attempt at gardening and this time we were better planned.

The Best Pizza Dough

We got a bit tired of our whole wheat pizza dough I think we got too accustomed to it and decided it needed some tweaking.

US Road trips

We've made a few road trips around the US. There's a lot to see here and a lot of distance to cover. Here are some of our trips on the east coast.

Panama

Panama's carnival celebration in Panama City are supposed to be the second largest in the world. Enjoyed this big party with fantastic street food, dozens of stages and loud music blaring at every corner.

Canada

Canada has some of the most beautiful sceneries and landscapes. I hope to drive across to the West coast some day but till then here's a glimpse of Toronto and beyond.

A weekend in Buffalo, New York

Distance: 410 Km.

Length: 2 days.

Shopping never ceases to end in this part of the world. The surprising part is that you never seem to get done with it. Canada's Boxing day sales now stretch over a week and even run into the New Year! So there's only so much you can shop till you drop. Unless you decide to drive some hundred miles and shop in another country!

CAA Winter Festival of Lights Niagara Falls

Buffalo, New York sure has some amazing shopping options!

Beef on Wick, a staple of Buffalo’s bars and taverns
We managed to get a glimpse of the beautifully lit streets, part of the Niagara Falls Winter Festival of Lights before we crossed the border. The big debate about which country has the better of the falls at Niagara seems pointless. They both are breathtaking!

There wasn't too much time to go sightseeing, I wonder if there is a lot to see to start with? Most of our time went shopping and tasting the local cuisine.

Beef on Weck, also called Beef On Wick is a unique staple of Buffalo, New York’s bars and taverns. It's a roast beef sandwich on a salty kummel'weck' roll, a Kaiser roll topped with lots of pretzel salt and caraway seeds.

It's served with horseradish,  kosher dill pickle slices on the side, and extra beef juice served straight from the roast.
Anchor Bar, the birthplace of Spicy Chicken Wings
And of course washed down by a locally brewed ale!

The next stop was at the famous Anchor Bar established in 1935. It's said to be the birthplace of spicy chicken wings, known outside the Buffalo area as Buffalo wings.

Teressa Bellissimo is credited with it's creation when she deep-fried some wings and covered them in hot sauce and margarine. They were truly delicious!
